Jerrod Ryherd

Coach Jerrod Ryherd takes the helm of the Lancer baseball program. Coach Ryherd is a native of Minneola, Kansas where he played basketball and baseball. After high school, Coach Ryherd attended Tabor College where he was a team captain and was twice selected to the KCAC all-conference teams. Coach Ryherd later received his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science from KU. He started his coaching career at SM East , coaching 2 years before transitioning to SM South where he spent his next 5 years. Throughout his 7 years of coaching, he has coached C teams, JV teams and been a Varsity assistant. In his 5 years of coaching at the sub varsity level, his teams have never had a losing season and in 1 of the 2 years as varsity assistant, his team went to State. Currently, Coach Ryherd is the physical education teacher at Brookridge Elementary. Along with coaching baseball, Coach Ryherd enjoys spending time with his wife Missi and son Cole. His other interests and hobbies include hunting, fishing, and attending sporting events.

Jared Anderson |
Coach Jared Anderson is the Varsity Assistant and is a current student at Emporia State
and student teaching at Shawnee Mission East and Belinder Elementary. He will graduate with a Bachelor’s in Education; teaching fields of health and physical education. He went to a small 3A high school and played football, basketball and baseball. He was the catcher and four hole hitter for his 1999 State Championship high school team. After high school, he played two years of college baseball at Cloud County Community College. Along with coaching baseball, Coach Anderson is currently on the SME football coaching staff. His wife’s name is Miricle, and they have been married for three years and are expecting their first child in April. Jared’s hobbies are to go on long motorcycle rides and spend time with family and friends. |
Jeremy Higgins |
Coach Jeremy Higgins enters his first season on the Lancer baseball staff as JV coach . Coach Higgins was a three-year starter in baseball at Lyons High School, earning 1st team All-State honors his senior year. After high school, he continued his baseball career at Cloud County Community College. Coach Higgins later graduated from Wichita State University with a degree in Secondary Education. In addition to his duties with the baseball team, Coach Higgins teaches chemistry at SME and is also an assistant football coach. In his free time, Jeremy enjoys playing golf, watching any type of athletic event, and spending time with his wife Ashley and other family and friends |
James Polk |
Coach James Polk enters his first season as a member of the Lancer baseball staff. Coach Polk has been playing baseball since he could walk, playing for the Johnson County Hornets baseball club and Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. He played catcher and first base. Coach Polk has been coaching with the Hornets baseball program for the past four years, most recently as the head coach for the 17-and-under team. He has also been a head coach for the 3 & 2 Fall Select Teams. He graduated from KU’s School of Education in May and is currently working on his master’s degree and completing his student teaching at Pinckney Elementary School in Lawrence. His hobbies include playing competitive sports, attending sporting events, and spending time with his family and friends. jdpolk08@ku.edu |
